Does the Apple Watch have a strain score?

Not as one built-in number. What's the difference between strain and recovery?

Is strain the same as the Activity rings?

They share inputs but answer different questions. The rings track whether you moved enough today; a strain score summarises how taxing that movement was. cowe reads the same raw load, then frames it against your morning recovery.

Do I need a chest strap for an accurate strain reading?

No. The optical heart-rate sensor and activity tracking already in your Apple Watch are what a strain reading is built from. There's nothing extra to buy or wear.

Does a high strain number mean I overtrained?
